Industrial Salt / Grade and RFQ Checks

Industrial Salt Buying Guide: Purity, Grain Size, and Grade Confirmation

Define the industrial salt grade, impurity checks, grain specification, and documentation before comparing bulk supply offers.

State the industrial application and grade

The salt portfolio covers industrial, crystalline, raw, de-icing, and iodized grades. For an industrial RFQ, identify the process and request the specific grade being offered. The portfolio's grade names are starting points; the quotation should state the material and requirements for your own use.

  • Describe the chemical, water-treatment, utility, or other industrial application.
  • State whether your specification requires non-iodized material and how that requirement will be verified.
  • If the intended use involves food or consumption, provide its separate qualification requirements and request supporting evidence for that use.

Turn the purity reference into a complete specification

The published reference grade lists NaCl at 99.00% minimum and moisture at 0.2% maximum. Ask whether those values apply to the selected industrial grade, what reporting basis is used, and which additional impurity results your process requires. Keep reference data and the confirmed order limits clearly identified.

  • Specify the required NaCl result, reporting basis, and test method.
  • Include moisture and any named impurity limits from your process or equipment specification.
  • Request selected-grade sample results; the published sample COA is a representative buyer reference.

Write the grain requirement for your receiving system

The product's booking checklist includes grain size, but it does not publish one size distribution for every salt grade. Put the required crystal or grain range into the RFQ and ask for a sieve report for the material being proposed. Include any handling observations your receiving team wants to check in a trial.

  • Specify the sieve limits or size range and tolerances required for the intended use.
  • Ask how fines, oversize material, and moisture will be reported if these are acceptance items.
  • Confirm whether the offered sample and planned bulk order use the same selected grade and size basis.

Agree acceptance and packing before bulk supply

Use the sample review to settle the agreed chemistry and grain specification. The listed packing options are 50 kg and jumbo bags. Ask your receiving team to confirm the bag format, then request the selected grade, sampling basis, and required documents in the commercial offer.

  • Retain the sample identifier, measured results, and approved limits with the order record.
  • Confirm how iodine requirements and other application-specific checks will appear in the documentation.
  • Send quantity, destination, unloading setup, packing, and delivery timing with the technical RFQ.
