Describe the surface preparation requirement
The copper slag portfolio lists abrasive blasting and surface preparation among its applications. For a blasting inquiry, send the workpiece or surface description, the required preparation result, and the equipment your team will use. Ask the supplier to identify the proposed grit grade for that trial.
- State the surface condition and the project requirements for cleanliness and surface profile.
- Provide the equipment and operating details that your blasting team considers necessary for grade selection.
- Ask which selected-grade documents are available against your project's abrasive requirements.
Request the actual sieve distribution
Listed size options run from 4.00-3.00 mm through smaller fractions including 1.00-0.50 mm, 0.50-0.212 mm, and 0.212 mm and below. These are portfolio options. Request the offered grade's sieve distribution and agree the allowed fractions instead of selecting a grit solely from a size label.
- Name the required size range and permitted retained or passing fractions.
- Ask for the sieve method and results linked to the proposed trial sample.
- Include any fines, oversize, moisture, or other checks required by your project specification.
Confirm properties against the selected grade
The published product reference reports Mohs hardness of 6.0-7.0, specific gravity of 3.51, and angular granules. Use these as reference properties and ask which measurements apply to the grit being quoted. Request the test evidence required for your job before approving the abrasive.
- List the hardness, density, composition, or other properties your acceptance brief requires.
- Ask for methods and results for any conductivity or chemical checks required by the project.
- Have the responsible project team review the material documentation against its operating and handling requirements.
Measure the trial and agree repeat-order controls
Plan a trial with your blasting team and document the operating conditions alongside the sample identifier. Record the achieved surface result using the project's agreed inspection method. The current product packing reference is jumbo bags, while the TDS also lists 50 kg bags. Confirm the offered packing and lot documentation in the quotation.
- Agree the trial area, grit quantity, equipment conditions, and inspection criteria before starting.
- Record surface profile and cleanliness results, and any consumption or handling observations your team needs for approval.
- Carry the accepted grit distribution, required reports, quantity, destination, and bag format into the bulk RFQ.
